Husqvarna YTH22V46 Safety Rules

This cutting device has the ability to amputee hands and feet as well as throw objects. A SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH COULD RESULT FROM FAILURE TO OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.

• Before beginning, make sure to read, comprehend, and follow all of the directions on the machine and in the handbook.
• Avoid placing your hands or feet under the machine or near any rotating parts. Always stay away from the discharge opening.
• Reputable adults who understand the manual and are operating the machine should be the only ones permitted to do so.
• Remove anything that the blades could pick up and hurl, such as rocks, toys, wire, etc. from the area.
• Before beginning work, be sure there are no spectators in the area. If somebody enters the area, stop the machine.
• Never transport anybody.
• Except in emergency situations, avoid mowing in reverse. Always keep an eye on the ground and behind you when backing up.
• Never point fired material in someone’s direction. Don’t discharge anything up against a wall or other impediment.

• Never operate the equipment without the discharge chute, grass catcher, or other safety features installed and functional.
• Before turning, go more slowly.
• Never depart from a machine that is in use alone. Always remove keys, set the parking brake, turn off the engine, and turn off the blades before getting off the vehicle.
• When not mowing, disengage the blades. Before cleaning the machine, taking out the grass collector, or clearing the discharge chute, turn off the engine and wait for all parts to come to a complete stop.
• Only use the machine in bright natural or artificial light.
• Never utilize the device while intoxicated or under the influence of narcotics. When moving close to or crossing roads, be aware of traffic.
• Be very cautious when loading or unloading the machine into a trailer or truck.

• Wear eye protection whenever operating a machine, as data shows that operators 60 years of age and older are implicated in a significant portion of riding mower-related injuries. These operators should assess their capacity to control the riding mower safely enough to prevent major injury to themselves and others.
• When using counterweights or wheel weights, according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Keep the machine clean of any grass, leaves, or other debris build-ups that could come in contact with hot engine or exhaust components and cause a burn. Avoid letting the mower deck plow through any leaves or other debris that may accumulate.
• Before using or storing the machine, clean up any oil or gasoline spills. Before storing, allow the machine to cool.

Slopes

Slopes play a significant role in accidents involving loss of control and tip-overs, which can cause severe damage or even death. All slopes require special caution when operating. Do not mow a slope if you cannot climb it in reverse or if you feel unsafe doing so.
• Mow slopes up and down, not across.
• Keep an eye out for rocks, ruts, holes, and other concealed things. The machine might topple over on uneven ground. Objects can be hidden by tall grass.
• Don’t mow on wet grass, and use a low ground speed so you won’t have to stop or shift while on the slope. Traction may be lost via tires. When traveling down hills, keep the vehicle in gear at all times. Avoid coasting downhill in neutral.

On hills, make sure that all movement is moderate and slow. Avoid abrupt speed or direction changes because doing so could cause the equipment to topple.

•Be particularly cautious when operating a machine that has grass catchers or other accessories because they can impact the machine’s stability. Avoid using on incline surfaces.
• Avoid attempting to use your foot as a stabilizer for the machine.
• Avoid mowing close to ditches, embankments, and drop-offs.

If a wheel is hanging over the edge or if the edge gives way, the machine could abruptly go over.

Children

If the driver is not aware of the presence of youngsters, tragic incidents may happen. Children are frequently drawn to the machine and the activity of mowing. Never take it for granted that kids will stay where you last saw them.

• Keep youngsters under the supervision of a competent adult other than the operator and away from the area being mowed.
· Before and while backing, glance behind and down for small children. • If a child enters the area, be aware and switch the machine off.
• Never transport kids when the blades are off. They might tumble off and suffer severe injuries, or they might obstruct safe equipment operation.

When approaching blind corners, bushes, trees, or other items that can obscure your view of a youngster, proceed with extreme caution.

Towing

Use a vehicle equipped with a towing-specific hitch only when towing. Only at the hitch location should you attach towing items.
• When towing on slopes and adhering to weight restrictions for towed equipment, follow the manufacturer’s advice.
• Never let kids or other people ride on towed machinery.
• Travel slowly and leave additional space between stops since the weight of the towed equipment may cause loss of traction and loss of control on slopes.
